Canadian authorities have confiscated over 56 million CAD ($40 million USD) in cryptocurrency from TradeOgre, marking the country's largest crypto seizure and the first complete dismantling of a digital asset platform. The RCMP's year-long investigation, aided by Europol and blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence, revealed the exchange operated without mandatory registration or KYC compliance.
TradeOgre's shutdown followed weeks of speculation after its website and social media went dark. Users later discovered seized funds in wallets bearing RCMP notices. The exchange was allegedly favored by criminal networks due to its lack of oversight, failing to register with Canada's financial intelligence unit Fintrac.
